george benington - co-director, co-producer

Whether "Grand Illusion" or "Pink Flamingoes" had more influence on George Benington's decision to direct films of his own is perhaps less significant than his desire to make still photographs move. He is a commercial photographer whose clients include L.L. Bean, Reebok, Hathaway, Timex, and Lindt Chocolate among others. And while not exactly his directorial debut, straw is his first film involving actors. He intends to someday make a film featuring nothing but cinematic cliches, or one that is completely free of them. George lives with his wife and family in South Portland, Maine.

lance cromwell - co-director, screenwriter, co-producer

Born in Manhattan, Lance is a writer/director who now lives with his family in the Portland (Maine) area. "straw" marks his directorial debut which will be followed by another short film "L2" in the winter of 2003, and a feature film project - a psychological thriller - by name of "insidious" in the fall of 2003. In addition to making films, Lance promotes films that intrigue him in one way or another on his website www.theartel.com, a review/ suggestion spot for movies and books.
